Commission approves buffer change, developer says construction likely to begin in May
The commission approved an amendment (SUP 56-2024) to reduce a southern landscape buffer from 30 to 20 feet for the Tropical Pecos commercial center; neighbors present largely supported the correction and the developer told commissioners he expects to begin infrastructure work within about 45 days.

Planning staff presented SUP 56-2024, which asks to amend a condition of approval to require a 20-foot landscape buffer (instead of 30 feet) on the southern property line for a commercial center at Tropical Parkway and Pecos Road. Staff said Title 17 requires a 20-foot buffer with specified tree spacing and recommended approval of the amended condition.
