Contractor flags drainage and concrete failures at Frontier; low-cost gutter fix proposed

Matt Furr of Parr Corporations described structural and drainage problems at Frontier's fields and adjacent areas: standing water in low spots, eroded concrete near grandstands and failing drainage gutters that allow runoff to undermine surrounding soil. He said crews have used repeated foam injections to re-level areas but the short-term fix is coming to an end. "The gutter system for all 5 fields, 3 per field, come in right under $8,000," Furr said, adding that the price surprised him and would be a cost-effective first step.
Furr said more extensive repairs -- including regrading, replacing concrete sections and resodding -- will be required in other areas and staff will include those needs in upcoming capital budget requests. Board members asked whether the low-cost gutter measure could be done immediately to avoid recurring damage; staff said they would seek funds and move ahead on the most urgent fixes.
