Brock Lively briefed council on the city's continued participation in the Keep Texas Recycling alliance and staff recommended a three-year agreement that would cap administrative fees at 12 percent. Lively said the partnership helps consolidate rural collection loads and provides minimum price guarantees to the city; he recommended the three-year, 12% option to maintain the relationship and ensure continued shipments.
"They guarantee us $5 over the floor price," Lively said, describing the marketing benefit. Council discussed the money returned after fees (staff said last year the city made just under $20,000 after the prior 10% fee) and then voted to approve the three-year agreement at the recommended rate.
