Murphy honors new Community Emergency Response Team graduates

Chief Elliott introduced the evening's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) graduates and turned the presentation over to Fire Marshal Chief Scott Eckstein, who described CERT's purpose and training format.
"The CERT members are a group of active residents that have received specialized training for the purpose of enhancing their ability to recognize, respond to, and recover from a major emergency affecting our community," Eckstein said. He outlined the hybrid eight‑week course with two in‑person sessions and a final hands‑on "disaster day" exam. He and staff recognized the evening's graduates by name: John M. Cox, Kathleen Cox, Ahmad Sheikh and Jessica Weeks.
Council and staff thanked the participants and took a few photos to mark the graduation; no council action was required.
