Waller County approves grant application, multiple procurements and contract renewals

At its April 15 meeting the Waller County Commissioners Court approved several administrative actions: county staff were authorized to submit a $38,517.55 grant application to a private foundation for emergency response equipment, the court renewed a five-year delinquent tax collection contract with Purdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins & Mott, and approved a block of procurement and service agreements covering office furniture, forensic software, appraisal services and road reconstruction.

Brooke (grant staff) described the foundation’s tiered awards and noted that awards above $25,000 will be reviewed by the foundation board in July; she told commissioners the county may later need to discuss a local match if prices change. The court voted to authorize grant submission.

Otilia Gonzales, representing the delinquent tax contractor, asked for the five-year term and reminded the court of the vendor’s 30-day out clause. Commissioners confirmed the vendor’s collection work is provided at no cost to the county and approved the renewal. "All of our collection services are at no cost to the county," Gonzales said.

As part of a grouped consent block staff summarized items 49–57: replacement furniture for the district clerk (award to Office Depot), a forensic data-extraction platform for the sheriff, appraisal services with JLL, an arbitrage rebate contract for the auditor’s office, the reconstruction of Pennock Road (bids came under a $9.4 million budget), Axon taser agreements for constable and sheriff hardware, and an online auction service for surplus property. County staff recommended approval, and the court adopted the block of items by voice vote.

The court recorded each motion and approved the listed contracts and procurements; staff said the modular project closeout (items 62–63) also came in under budget with about $100,000 to be returned to the county.
