Building official reports increased permitting and ongoing code sweeps
Chief Building Official Philip Mize told council the department has stepped up area code sweeps and seen higher permitting activity: about 1,601 sweep letters sent to date, 606 total code violations this year, roughly 447 permits issued and nine new commercial certificates of occupancy; some minimum-housing cases remain under review.
