Loa to send WUI code and CIB project proposals to planning commission

Brock, representing the regional assistance (R6) program, advised the council that adopting the 2006 Utah Wildland‑Urban Interface (WUI) Code by ordinance is required for participation in the Cooperative Wildfire Suppression partnership and recommended the Planning & Zoning commission review the sample code and an accompanying WUI map before the council holds a land‑use public hearing. "You must adopt the 2006 WUI Code by ordinance," Brock said, and he noted that Loa is not in a high‑risk area and therefore would likely have limited enforcement impact.
Brock also reviewed options for the Community Impact Board (CIB) project list and advised the council to include projects it intends to pursue by the May 1 deadline. He suggested adding water distribution improvements and a water master plan as reasonable candidates. Clerk Michelle Brian and councilmembers agreed staff should collect estimated funding numbers and return to council for prioritization during the budget cycle.
