County Engineer Chad Gillespie updated the Traverse County Commission on ongoing road and bridge work and explained a recent change to the county’s ditch-cleaning permit. Gillespie said crews have graveled the Hall’s Drive parking lot, are working on CSAH 15 and bridge items, and plan to rent a mastic trailer when available to patch damaged areas in Browns Valley.
Gillespie addressed a citizen letter about the county’s ditch-cleaning permit and said the permit wording was revised in September 2024 to clarify equipment restrictions: “No equipment will be permitted to operate on or across the roadway which will damage the roadway or shoulder surface,” he said. Highway Supervisor Brian Koch also appeared before the board to answer operational questions. The commission recorded no formal directives beyond the update.
