Commission approves Conditional Use Permit for private grass airstrip owned by Mathiases with state/federal permit condition
The Board unanimously approved a Conditional Use Permit for Jonathan and Marilyn Mathias to reconstruct two private grass runways (up to 3,300 ft by 100 ft). Approval includes conditions requiring all state and federal permits within 24 months or the county approval expires.

The Traverse County Board on Nov. 19 approved a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) application from Jonathan and Marilyn Mathias to reconstruct a previously existing private grass landing strip for personal use and potential use by aerial crop applicators. Zoning Administrator Ben Oleson appeared via Zoom to present the request.
