Commercial storage applicant asks about B‑zone standards; staff cites screening and frontage rules

Jul 14, 2026

An applicant seeking to build storage units in the business zone asked the commission how close buildings can be to property lines, lot frontage requirements and screening. Staff cited code that requires fencing or screening for storage facilities, a 35‑foot lot frontage minimum and explained accessory‑building rules and fire‑rating requirements.

The full story

A business applicant asked the commission whether a proposed commercial storage or warehousing facility in the B (business) zone could meet local standards for setbacks, frontage and screening. Staff read the code section saying commercial storage facilities “shall be enclosed by a fence or a wall of material and screening system that provides adequate security and is architecturally compatible with the consolidated business and district neighborhood that the facility is in.”
