Selectboard suspends EYSC bylaws, holds executive-session interviews

The Eden Selectboard informed attendees on March 11, 2025 that, following consultation with the town lawyer, the existing 2011 bylaws for the Eden Youth Sports Committee (EYSC) have been suspended. The minutes state that three committee members were appointed temporarily at a special selectboard meeting on March 4, 2025 to maintain continuity for participating youth while the board develops a new policy to replace the suspended bylaws.
To consider appointments the board moved into executive session under 1 V.S.A. § 313(a)(3). Tim Bullard moved to enter executive session, Clayton Whittemore seconded; the board invited selectboard members Melissa Whitcomb and Leslie White and interviewed applicants one at a time. Executive session ran from 6:17 p.m. to 6:57 p.m.; the board conducted four interviews and the minutes record that no decisions were made during that session. The board indicated it will draft a new EYSC policy before finalizing committee membership.
