Brooks County approves routine bills, monthly reports and HOME program application

The Brooks County Commissioners Court approved bills, monthly reports and several grant-related resolutions during its March 12 meeting in Falfurrias.
County Auditor Eugenio Garcia reported that the county has "collected another tax payment, brings us to 86%" and said spending remained low year-to-date, which he said suggested the county would remain financially stable if current trends continued. The court approved the Treasurer's, Auditor's and Chief Deputy Tax Assessor Collector's monthly reports and routine invoices, including a $2,922 payment to Jaime's Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and an $18.36 payment to Global Interpreting Network, Inc.
Judge Eric Ramos read a resolution the court approved to submit a HOME Single Family Housing Program application to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs; the resolution was noted "with no county match." The court also authorized the County Judge to publish a Request for Proposals for professional management services for the TDHCA HOME program and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Community Facilities program. All motions in this package passed by unanimous vote where recorded.
The court tabled approval of the regular and special meeting minutes for further review and will consider them at a future special meeting.
