The Abilene MPO policy board approved updates to the federal functional classification of roads for the MPO area, accepting the classifications originally provided by TxDOT after staff and TAC review.
Staff explained the distinction between federal functional classification and local functional classification and said that, after discussions with TxDOT and the city, TxDOT's original suggestions were the correct federal classifications. The packet included three attachments: attachment 1 showing the existing classifications, attachment 2 showing TxDOT's suggested changes, and attachment 3 showing the final proposed classification.
TAC reviewed the materials and recommended approval; a board member moved to approve the federal functional classification and the motion passed by voice vote. Staff noted the classifications were reviewed for the entire, recently-expanded MPO boundary.
