Staff: Heritage Park electronics delay pushes public availability to mid‑October

During the construction update, staff reported the D3 phase 2 target for substantial completion of streets and alleys remains Aug. 18, contingent on schedule. "August 18 is still the date, of substantial completion," staff said. However, Heritage Park’s electrical and audio systems require further testing and cleanup; staff said the park would likely not be available for public use until Oct. 17.
The board discussed partial openings when specific pathways are completed (e.g., sidewalks on Burnett) and the need to coordinate events with park readiness. Staff warned that while streets and alleys could reopen earlier, full park functionality—especially for concerts and electronically dependent events—depends on system testing, cleaning and Piazza vacating the site.
Board members agreed to continue planning events with contingency dates and to confirm park availability before scheduling uses that require the park’s audio/visual systems.
