The Vernon County Board on Aug. 15 authorized Northpointe to submit a $250,000 grant application to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) Community Development Investment (CDI) program on behalf of Vernon County. Economic Development Director Amy Oliver told the board Northpointe cannot apply directly and that the county’s participation is necessary so the application will carry the required local-government endorsement; the resolution requires Northpointe to accept responsibility for any match funds and to enter a memorandum of understanding if the grant is awarded.
Chair Lorn Goede called the question and the resolution was adopted by voice vote. The resolution states the grant would support redevelopment of a catalytic site (the former highway shop) and that Northpointe will be financially responsible for match and any unreimbursed costs; the county will draft an MOU to clarify grant management and oversight responsibilities if a grant is awarded.
