The board approved Resolution R07‑2026‑1542 to authorize a condemnation commission and set compensation, at the request of Judge McKnight. Staff explained the commission ensures fair compensation in eminent domain proceedings and that appointments are made by the judge when the county is a party in a taking. County officials said they have not used such a commission since 2000 but that law firms had recently inquired whether the county had an active authorization.
A supervisor moved to approve the compensation increase for the condemnation commission and the motion passed after a second and voice approval. Staff said the commission would be convened only as needed and appointments would follow judicial guidance.
