Board approves MRRPC to administer county economic development loan program

The Vernon County Board on March 28 approved Resolution 2023-29 to contract with the Mississippi River Regional Planning Commission (MRRPC) to administer the county's economic development loan program. Supervisor Stanek said the change will allow an objective review of loan applications; Supervisor Ofte emphasized the county retains final authority to decide who receives loans.
Supervisor Pedretti noted MRRPC considers Vernon County a trendsetter in loan prioritization. Supervisor Eggen asked whether tax levy dollars would be used for loans; Administrator Reddington replied the funds are not tax-levy dollars and come from loan repayments. The board adopted the resolution on a unanimous voice vote.
