Putnam County keeps solid-waste assessment and user fees flat for next year

Putnam County staff recommended and the board approved a resolution to keep solid-waste assessment and user fees at the same rates as the prior fiscal year, citing operational efficiencies that offset Waste Pro cost escalations. "We were able to work on our side, and take advantage of some operational efficiencies that allowed us to remain — to allow the fees to remain constant at what they were last year," the presenter said during the public hearing.
During public comment, Tim Hotelling (San Mateo resident) told commissioners he supports improved local recycling centers and suggested citizens might pay higher fees if they received better recycling services. "Would you be willing to pay extra on your solid waste fee every year?" the chair asked. "Absolutely, depending on what I get in return," Hotelling replied.
The board moved to adopt resolution number 2026005 (presented by Commissioner Harvey), the motion was seconded, and the chair called the vote. The board recorded the motion as passing unanimously. Motion language on the public record was to "approve resolution number 2026005, setting the rates for establishing the solid waste assessment user fees."
