Commissioners reviewed a recent county technology effort to implement an electronic roll‑call system using vendor Granicus and described problems with implementation and service during onboarding.
Staff said the project began with COVID relief dollars and additional items added to the package raised expectations that were not met. The board heard that $100,000 was originally budgeted; about $59,000 has been spent. Administration and corporate counsel have requested a refund and explored rolling some funds into the county’s existing GovDelivery contract for other services.
"It was a failure," one commissioner said in describing the rollout and staff efforts to recoup county funds. The board indicated the unspent or recovered funds would likely revert to board initiative accounts or the board initiative fund once legal settlement or reallocation is complete.
