Pratt County commissioners agree to pursue countywide comprehensive plan study

Commissioners on the Pratt County Board agreed to pursue a countywide comprehensive plan study after a presentation from planning staff. Josh Albin described the comprehensive plan as a 20-year roadmap to guide growth, land use, economic development and infrastructure; Zoning Director BJ Hayes attended the discussion. Albin estimated the process would take about 12–18 months and projected costs of $25,000 to $35,000.
Albin recommended using overlay districts to direct future development in targeted areas without disrupting existing land uses. Commissioners said the plan would provide a policy foundation for conditional use permit decisions and strengthen grant applications. The board asked staff to prepare a proposal and engagement letter to send to County Counselor Tyson Eisenhauer for legal review and next steps.
