Board to draft student-representative application, debates who should qualify for seat

Board members discussed appointing a student representative after Chair Jeff Wickersham summarized WSSDA’s recommendation that boards appoint one junior and one senior. Jon Paul Anderson said he prefers rotating students or allowing a single high-school student to provide reports rather than sit at the table unless called on to participate. Superintendent Ingrid Colvard will send the board a draft application; Lisa Birney and Mark Chambers will assist with the application.
PTA President Vickie Stolle suggested opening the position to sophomores and noted that 8th graders who work book fairs often gain experience handling money and require three recommendations to be considered for PTA positions. The board agreed to review the draft application before moving forward.
