Engineer recommends utility permits and easement purchase for bridge project; board approves

Jaden from the county engineers office reviewed three items: an underground boring permit for Mediacom to install fiber in Van Buren Township, an underground boring permit for Windstream in Bellevue Township (with required traffic control under Iowa DOT standards), and a right-of-way purchase for a bridge replacement project (DOT project BROS-CO49) requiring a permanent easement of 0.52 acres for $2,915.
Jaden said the Windstream work is mostly within the city limits of Bellevue but will extend to the county portion and noted that traffic-control steps will be required on the narrow Sebring Ridge Road. He described the easement purchase as covering "a little over 0.5 an acre, 0.52 acres with the total price for easement of $2,915" and said the purchase will allow the December letting to proceed. Board members moved, seconded and approved both permits and the easement purchase by voice vote.
In his engineering report Jaden also updated the board on roadwork: Bernhard Road paving work, an expected beam delivery for Channelworth bridge work this week, reclaim crews active near Preston Green Island, and a submitted CHBP grant for Morehead bridge work with determinations expected by the end of September.
