La Porte board authorizes letter supporting Tourism Friendly Texas application
The board authorized the board president to sign a letter supporting La Porte’s application for the governor’s Tourism Friendly Texas program (a governor’s office program launched in 2024); staff said there is no cost to apply and the motion passed 7-0.

Haley, a La Porte staff member working on the application, told the board the Tourism Friendly Texas designation is a governor’s office program introduced in 2024 and is intended to bring additional resources to participating cities. "This is a program through the governor's office. It's relatively new. It's only been out since 2024," Haley said.
