Development activity remains robust; permitting backlog and staff changes noted
Summary

Amy delivered the Community and Economic Development quarterly report for April 1–June 30, reporting active projects, permit counts, and code enforcement caseloads.
"We have 34 active development projects going on... approximately 18 projects that are under land use and civil review," Amy said. She reported 150 building-permit applications were processed and 124 permits issued during the quarter, and 148 code-enforcement cases were logged (approximately 64 property cases, of which 19 remain open).
Amy noted a staffing layoff required reassigning the compliance officer’s duties to a combination inspector, which has introduced some lag in case processing. Amy also said the department reverted from CivicPlus back to iWORKS for permitting on July 15 and that upcoming council docket items and the open 2027 annual docket (closing Aug. 31) will be scheduled as staffing and software transitions continue.
Councilmembers asked whether trail and sidewalk projects appear in the comp plan and how funding through CIP would proceed; Amy confirmed trail and transportation elements appear in the comp and that CIP funding will determine timing.
