Development at 1285 Evergreen put on hold after endangered beetle flagged

Community Development Director Diane Cucar told commissioners the property at 1285 Evergreen has been flagged by the State for presence of an endangered American burying beetle and that development activity on the parcel will be put on hold.
The minutes record: “Mrs. Cucar stated that the 1285 Evergreen property has been flagged by the State for having an endangered American Burying Beetle on it. Development will be put on hold until further notice.” Commissioners reviewed driveway bids but did not authorize construction while state review or permitting remains unresolved.
The board also discussed a separate item: the construction of a new fire barn in Grenola, including grant processes, building size and bids. The minutes record discussion but not decisions on the Grenola project.
