Homeowner asks city for detailed plan before granting access for sewer work
Summary
A Kennedale homeowner whose property may be used for staging an upcoming sewer improvement asked the city for a property-specific construction plan, a schedule, clear restoration commitments and an on-site preconstruction meeting before signing a temporary access/agreement.
During public comment Amanda Chance, who said she lives at 628 Briar Court, described repeated communication gaps related to an upcoming sewer improvement project affecting her property and asked the city for specific written protections before granting temporary site access or allowing equipment and materials to be stored on her land.
"Before we consider signing the temporary access activities agreement, we respectfully request that the City provide additional details and meet with us on-site," Chance said. She asked for a property-specific construction plan that identifies excavation locations, the size and weight of equipment to be stored, a project schedule, fencing plans to secure the yard and documentation of who will be responsible for restoration or damage claims.
Chance said she supports the sewer project generally and wants the work to move forward cooperatively, but asked for a pre-construction on-site meeting with city staff, engineers and the contractor and written assurances about restoration and liability. The mayor confirmed there was an upcoming meeting set with the city manager to discuss the concerns.
