Sequim planning staff outlines capital facilities plan, schedule and public-comment process

Carla, planning staff for the City of Sequim, gave a comprehensive overview of the draft capital facilities plan and the schedule for public outreach and hearings. "As you know, we released all the documents last Monday on July 13," Carla said, noting an in-person open house that evening and an online open house open through August 13. The staff presentation set a Sept. 1 Planning Commission public hearing and a Sept. 28 City Council hearing as the next formal steps.

The presentation framed the capital facilities plan as a component of the city's comprehensive plan under the Growth Management Act and tied it to state and county-assigned growth allocations. Carla summarized why the plan matters for Sequim's infrastructure: "We have approximately 3,000 new people that we must plan for, about 1000 new jobs, and 18 50 new housing units," she said. Staff also described how comment submissions will be tracked with a numbered crosswalk and included in the Sept. 1 staff packet, allowing commissioners to review staff responses and recommended edits before and during the public hearing.
