Prosecuting Attorney Paul Butikofer told the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners on April 13 that his office has seen "a big increase in overall case filings," including five or six additional felony cases per month, plus more misdemeanor and civil matters. He asked the board to authorize hiring a part‑time contract attorney to handle the increased workload.
