Council okays Middle Fork disc golf tournament permit, pledges partial RTMP support

The Westfir City Council voted to approve a park rental application for the Middle Fork (Bridal Fork) Open disc golf tournament, scheduled May 8–10, 2026, and authorized a partial RTMP (tourism promotion) grant of $1,250 toward the event.
Organizer Jason Neymar described the event as the tournament's sixth year, noting play at Old Mill (Oak Ridge) and Office Bridge (Westfir) and on-site camping. "It's our 6th annual Bridal Fork Open... we've made this a B tier for the last 3 years," Neymar said, explaining the costs associated with prize money, PDGA fees and player packs.
Staff cautioned that a certificate of insurance and applicable fees were required before final authorization. The council also reviewed RTMP fund projections and staff's note that the county allocation this year is uncertain. "We have $4,500 in special events and sponsorships available now," the city recorder said while explaining the budget context for the award.
Councilor Jared Morkey moved to accept the application and later moved the RTMP grant; the motions carried. The council recorded unanimous aye votes for both the rental approval and the $1,250 RTMP award. The city asked the organizer to return if additional funding is needed once county revenue is confirmed.
The immediate next step is for the organizer to supply the required insurance certificate and pay applicable rental fees; council members said they will consider any follow-up RTMP requests when county allocations are clearer.
