Sheriff reports jail restoration progress; camera and door installations ongoing

Sheriff Bobby Raider delivered an update on repairs and upgrades to the Liberty County Jail following fire damage and restoration work.
Raider said fire-restoration work is complete except for two doors, which contractors expect to deliver in November or December. He reported the exhaust system work started around July 20 and that vendors have delivered purge fans and related equipment. "Phase 1, phase 2, phase 2.5 has been completed," Raider said, adding that about 136 cameras have been installed and a final visit in September will add roughly 30 more to complete the system.
On locks and doors, Raider said the county received the door locks on July 15 and the installer is working long hours; he estimated around 96 locks are being installed. He also noted some sliding entrance doors have parts delayed until March 2027 and said HVAC and ceiling projects remain on contractor punch lists. The court voted to accept the sheriff's report.
