Susan Eugenis told the board the county has posted a request for qualifications for a geomorphic study intended to assess river and channel conditions that could inform flood-protection projects. She said RFQs are due August 19 and that the county is running the procurement concurrently with its grant application so work could begin quickly if funds are awarded.
When commissioners asked whether the study would necessarily recommend dredging at the river mouth, Eugenis responded the consultant will independently analyze existing data and make recommendations based on that analysis rather than presupposing dredging.
