Council considers enterprise‑zone application for Route 1 and Gateway districts

The council heard a presentation in support of Resolution 134, which would authorize an application to the Maryland Department of Commerce for an enterprise zone designation in Eastern Howard County. Jennifer Jones (EDA) and Linda Eisenberg (Planning & Zoning) described a designated area that would include portions of Route 1 and the Gateway District and said businesses that make incremental capital investments or create new jobs could be eligible for state tax credits tied to that investment.
