County adopts comprehensive Water Master Plan after two-year process

The Box Elder County Commission voted to adopt Ordinance 644, formally adopting the Box Elder County Water Master Plan, a comprehensive document county staff said was developed over two years with input from every water provider and multiple stakeholders.
Scott Lyons described the plan's scope—outreach to water providers, division of the county into seven regions to tailor guidance for smaller cities and private water providers, and assistance and partial funding from the Water Conservancy District. Lyons said an earlier portion of the plan required by new legislation was already incorporated into the county’s general plan in December; this ordinance adopts the broader technical document as county guidance. Commissioners approved the plan by voice vote.
County staff indicated the Water Conservancy District planned to review or consider adopting the plan at its meeting the same evening, and smaller utilities and towns can adopt their regional sections for local guidance.
