Council Member Janae Butler provided a detailed debrief from the North Central Texas 9-1-1 Board of Managers meeting on June 10, listing adopted minutes, policy revisions (ADM 2.8) to align NG911 GIS-based service boundaries, and contract authorizations under consideration. Butler said the board approved a proposed Verizon Wireless contract for emergency communication and backup connectivity "not to exceed $150,000" and a SHI Government Solutions contract for Microsoft licensing "not to exceed $250,000."
Butler also described operational preparations for large events (FIFA and the Los Angeles Olympics) including call-back capabilities for international callers, language-interpretation improvements using Voyance and AI language-recognition pilots, and a call-handling workstation utilization review that could change how many stations a participating city funds and uses. She said the 9-1-1 procurement for core services is narrowing to final vendors and follow-up will occur at the board’s next meeting on September 9.
