After reconvening from an executive session that addressed litigation and personnel matters, the Murphy City Council voted unanimously to authorize the city attorney to amend the contract of City Manager Aretha Adams to reflect terms on housing and severance and to authorize the mayor to sign the addendum. Council Member Janae Butler moved the authorization and the presiding officer seconded; the motion passed without recorded opposition.
The council had recessed under Texas Government Code Chapter 551, Subchapter D earlier in the evening to consult with counsel on pending or contemplated litigation and to deliberate personnel matters related to the city manager. Council records show the executive session began at 6:23 p.m. and the council reconvened at 8:16 p.m., at which time Janae Butler made the motion authorizing the contract amendment. The council stated there was no action taken while in executive session and then proceeded with the recorded motion and unanimous vote.
