Board approves Deploy document-search pilot; staff to integrate public documents

The Alger County Board discussed a new VoIP/AI search and document-indexing tool known as Deploy and agreed to accept the vendor's offer to include the tool at no cost for the first year. A county representative said the platform “has replaced our search bar on our website…it's actually looking inside the PDF” and will return summaries with links to the source documents to make historical board minutes and packet documents easier to find.
Commissioners agreed the tool could reduce staff time answering records requests and make information easier for the public to locate. One commissioner moved to accept the tool and another seconded; the motion was carried by voice vote. Staff were directed to integrate Deploy into relevant board and committee websites and advise committees of the option.
