Work group proposes transplant-center acknowledgment when pauses affect accepted organs

The proposed policy requires OPOs to document acknowledgment from transplant programs that accepted an organ if an unplanned DCD pause occurred; presenters said notification to centers could also occur during the organ offer process.

Discussion clarified that the obligation to document acknowledgment applies to transplant programs that accepted an organ from a donor where a pause occurred rather than to every center that received an offer. "Ultimately, we would only have to document acknowledgment from those centers that accepted an organ," PJ Garrity said, noting notification at the time of offers could be used to inform centers about a prior pause and its resolution.
