The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution R-26-0060 to update how the county gives public notice of meetings in response to Legislative Bill 596 (2026). Courtney Lyons, Deputy County Clerk, told the Board the change would mean publishing the county's regular meeting schedule in the newspaper four times per year instead of a separate published notice for every meeting.
Commissioner Chelsea Johnson moved to adopt the resolution, Commissioner Sean Flowerday seconded, and the motion carried with Johnson, Flowerday, Vest and Yoakum voting yes; Commissioner Matt Schulte was absent. The change is intended to streamline notice publication while meeting statutory requirements under LB596.
