Court approves temporary emergency management hires and authorizes settlement talks on local developments

Following an executive session on litigation and personnel matters, the commissioner's court reconvened and took two actions. First, the court approved hiring emergency management specialists on a temporary basis (06/24/2026–09/30/2026) at an annualized salary equivalent of $62,204; the hire was approved on a 3–2 vote. Second, the court authorized county counsel to negotiate and prepare settlement and development agreements for Doctor Horton and River Rock Development; that motion passed unanimously, 5–0.

"I would like to make a motion that we approve the hire of emergency management specialists effective 06/24/2026 through 09/30/2026 at the equivalent of $62,204 annually," the county judge said in open session; the first motion passed 3–2. The court then authorized counsel to pursue settlement negotiations in ongoing development litigation and approved the direction to counsel 5–0.
