Board splits on a string of budget transfers; several fail and some pass

Jul 29, 2026

Trustees voted separately on a sequence of budget transfers: a $152,000 computer contractual transfer passed, multiple smaller transfers failed or were abstained on (including a $16,000 health-insurance transfer and a $275,000 Social Security transfer), and several targeted transfers such as plant/facilities electricity ($70,620.19) passed.

The full story

Trustees took up individual budget-transfer motions rather than approving them en bloc. The board approved a $152,000 transfer to computer contractual services and later approved a $70,620.19 transfer for plant and facilities electricity and other targeted transfers. Several motions failed or were not approved due to noes and abstentions: a $16,000 transfer for New York State employee health insurance failed after votes and an indicated abstention, and a $275,000 transfer to cover Social Security obligations was recorded as failed or tabled during the session.
