Sanilac County master plan earns Daniel Burnham planning award

Sanilac County officials accepted a planning award for the county's 2024 master plan from the Michigan Association of Planning; county leaders credited local steering committee members and consulting partners for the plan and its community process.
A planning award capped a presentation to the Sanilac County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 17: the county's 2024 master plan received the Daniel Burnham planning award from the Michigan Association of Planning.
County Administrator Nathan Rosky read the citation and credited the multi-year public process and consultant teams. "The Saint Laurent County master plan has been awarded the the Daniel Burnham prestigious planning award for the county's master plan by the Michigan Association of Planning," Rosky said, reading the award text and naming On Target Media and local committee members for their roles.
Rosky noted the plan began in April 2022 and included town-hall meetings, surveys and a steering committee made up of residents, business leaders and officials. The board invited planning partners and steering-committee members to the front of the room for a photo after the award was presented.
The board did not take further action on the master plan at the meeting; the recognition was presented as an acknowledgement of the plan and the county's planning partners.
