Town identifies server single-point failure; FEMA mitigation application must include H&H study

Town officials reported a single-point failure in servers that affected website and phones and said FEMA's mitigation grant process requires a hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) study, turning the application into a two-phase engineering and construction effort and increasing estimated costs.

Mayor Ramey Dixon told trustees the town discovered a single-point failure in its server/information system that disrupted phones and the website and that he has asked the contracted vendor to propose redundancy solutions. He said the town will seek proposals to eliminate the vulnerability.
