Council approves Trevor Cook as Bear River Behavioral Health Director by contract

At its June 23 meeting the Cache County Council approved appointing Trevor Cook, executive director of Bear River Behavioral Health, to serve as the county's Behavioral Health Director under contract.

Jordan Mathis introduced the proposal and explained the contract alignment would run for the remaining eight years of the existing agency contract, while clarifying that the non‑profit agency retains independent employment rights for its executive director. After presentation, Councilmember David Erickson moved to approve the appointment "for the term of the contract or until he ends his employment;" Nolan Gunnell seconded and the motion passed (Aye:6, Absent:1). The council recorded the vote and the appointment will be executed under the interlocal framework discussed in subsequent meetings.

The appointment delegates oversight of county behavioral‑health responsibilities to an individual who will also remain the head of the non‑profit agency, subject to the terms of the contractual arrangement and the counties’ oversight roles under state law.
