Board previews Emerging Technology Ordinance to regulate data centers, crypto and storage projects
Chairman Graham introduced a draft Emerging Technology Ordinance to amend the county land-use code to address cryptocurrency processing, data centers, energy storage and solar energy collection projects; the draft will not affect existing solar farms and will be released for public review.

At the June 18 meeting, Chairman John R. Graham briefed the board on a proposed Emerging Technology Ordinance intended to amend the county Land Use Ordinance to address projects including cryptocurrency processing facilities, data centers, energy storage facilities and solar energy collection. Graham told the board the draft ordinance would not impact existing solar farms and that a copy of the draft would be placed in the meeting attachments for public review ahead of a future discussion.
