STR Board votes to add recreational-fire language to draft fire-safety rules
Summary
After reviewing recommendations and handouts (Exhibit A), the STR Board agreed June 8 to include language about recreational fires (fire pits, grilling) and directed staff to refine the fire-safety subsection for clarity.
During discussion of potential ordinance revisions (Attachment 2), David Dyer recommended removing substantial verbiage from subsection 'c' to reduce confusion and proposed adding clear language about outside/recreational burning such as fire pits and grills. Fire-safety handouts and a list of recommendations were distributed and entered as Exhibit A.
Patrick Woodall moved to include some form of language related to recreational fires; Martin Pilote seconded and the motion carried. The board directed staff to incorporate clearer, less confusing language into the fire-safety subsection and to bring revised text to the upcoming work session for further review.
