Steuben County committee approves corrective action plan after State Comptroller audit

The Steuben County Administration Committee voted 5-0 on March 10 to approve and forward to the Legislature a corrective action plan responding to the State Comptroller's audit titled "Steuben County Safeguarding Computerized Data." County Manager Jack K. Wheeler told the committee that "we are required to develop a corrective action plan," and said IT staff submitted the plan for review.
Wheeler said one of the audit recommendations is to complete an inventory and classify computerized data by type and sensitivity on an ongoing basis, which likely will require additional technology spending for software and servers. IT staff Mr. Wolverton and Mr. Ryan are obtaining quotes and will return with cost estimates and suggested budgeting steps. The committee approved the motion to forward the plan to the Legislature on a unanimous vote.
