Board hears plan to remove most trees in Lamoille Grove; some work may require contractors
Summary
District staff said about 75% of trees in Lamoille Grove could be removed this late fall/early winter, but hazard trees near power lines and stumps likely need contractors; deep stumping may be contracted due to equipment limits.

District staff told the board they have assessed Lamoille Grove and expect to remove roughly three-quarters of the trees during a late-fall/early-winter effort but that hazard trees near infrastructure may have to remain or be handled by contractors.
"I'm going to optimistically say 75% of that work in the trees out of the grove," Matt said, adding that district equipment may not be able to get stumps as low as desired and that some stump work "may have to be written into a contract with a contractor" because contractor machines can get below the surface but are more expensive.
