Clark County approves $20,000 contract for upgraded emergency alerting system

The Board of Clark County Commissioners on April 1 approved Resolution 2026-0249 authorizing a $20,000 contract with The Alerting Authority to update countywide alerting policies and provide one year of staff training. County Administrator Jennifer Hutchinson said ARPA interest funds will pay for the purchase.
"This is for alerting during county emergencies. This is a much better program than what is currently in use," County Administrator Jennifer Hutchinson said. Commissioner Sasha L. Rittenhouse added the system is designed for rapid notification, saying it "allows for a much quicker, more rapid response" in situations where an adult may be endangered. The motion was moved by Commissioner Richard L. Lohnes, seconded by Commissioner Rittenhouse, and passed 2-0.
