Board approves replacement gates for Sheriff's Office after safety briefing from undersheriff

Ames explained the gates protect jail sally ports and control access to inmate-loading areas; unrestricted drive-up access could allow unauthorized pickup of inmates and jeopardize staff and public safety. "It's super important that we have those gates up and they're monitored by cameras and our control room so that we can see who's coming in and out," he said.
Commissioners asked where additional funds would come from to cover a small shortfall; staff identified available capital in Fund 305 to cover the difference. The board voted to approve the Artistic Fence Company quote and proceed with procurement and installation.
