County Counselor Todd Luckman briefed the Board on a property on Indian Valley Lane near Hoyt with a failed septic tank that is discharging waste to the ground. Luckman said he is preparing documents to begin nuisance-violation steps. Chairman Mark Pruett said he believed Northeast Kansas Environmental Services (NEKES) could invoke emergency sanitary orders under the county sanitary codes and offered to contact NEKES to discuss next steps.
